Floor Care
Taking Care Of Your Wood Floor Ensures A Long Life.
Here are some simple tips for regular and preventive maintenance:
Dust mop frequently to prevent any build up that can scratch the floors finish. Use only specifically
formulated floor care products (we recommend PolyCare products), avoiding any containing harsh
chemicals like ammonia, bleach or acetone. Do not wet mop flooring as excessive moisture can
damage floors.
Place floor mats or area rugs near outside entrances to trap dirt and grit that can scratch your floor.
Use a floor mat in front of kitchen sinks to catch any spills or splashes.
Wipe up spills immediately with a slightly damp cloth.
Put protective felt pads on any moveable piece of furniture, such as chairs, tables, or other objects
sitting directly on hardwood flooring to protect from scratches.
Tape can damage finish if left on floors for an extended period of time. Be sure to remove tape daily
when working on projects.
UV sunlight can change the color of wood species to varying degrees. By rearranging rugs and
furniture from time to time, you ensure the floor ages evenly.
Trim pet nails to minimize scratches and indentation.
Avoid walking on floors with cleats, sport shoes or high heels that can dent the floor.
Maintain humidity between 35% and 55% to minimize expansion and contraction of hardwood flooring.
